LORNA WINDSOR, sopran

Lorna Windsor began her musical studies with the piano and the viola; then singing and the piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Ellis Keeler and Johanna Peters, Lied and german repertoire with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and in Vienna with Hans Hotter, French song with Gérard Souzay and with Graziella Sciutti Mozart and the Italian repertoire.

Lorna ‘s career took off immediately and so continues, along parallel paths, combining a balance of opera, theatre, recital, baroque and contemporary music, thanks to her open approach and appreciation of a wide variety of styles.

Lorna has sung in Europe’s main opera houses, both in opera, operetta and musical, from J. Strauss do Offenbach and Bernstein, from Monteverdi and Peri, to Mozart and Salieri, to R. Strauss, Ravel and Massenet, to Stravinsky, Schönberg and Berio, and has worked with todays leading conductors (Leonhardt, Bruggen, Abbado, Previn, etc) and directors (Strehler, Vick, Warner, D. Abbado, etc). She also performed as a stage and film actress in various occasions.

Her concert career is as intense as it is eclectic: an accomplished singer and interpreter of Lieder and chamber music, she is also a fine singer of contemporary music and is a chosen interpreter of numerous composers of the present time.

Among her selection of cd recordings available, her recent John Cage complete songs has received high praise; forthcoming (2008, 2009) are recordings of Cole Porter, Ghedini, Casella, Malipiero, Togni.
